March 15, 2016, marked the 20th Anniversary of the Mary Kay Foundation. The first grants given in 1997 were 5 cancer research grants for a total of $500,000. In 2015, The Foundation gave almost $5 million to its two causes – eliminating cancers that affect women and ending the epidemic of violence against women. Our accomplishments are highlighted in our 2015 Year in Review.
What a testimony to Mary Kay’s legacy that the foundation she started would be a dynamic force in so many women’s lives 20 years later. One way that we can celebrate her legacy of love is by making a tribute in honor of her today.
Help now… you can make a difference in the lives of women across the nation.
The Mary Kay FoundationSM Awards Grants to 150 Shelters during Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Since its inception 20 years ago, the Foundation has invested $38.6 million in its annual shelter grant program. The funds are provided on an unrestricted basis, meaning organizations can apply them where they are needed most. The fact that shelters across the country can use these unrestricted funds to best fit their immediate needs has often made the difference between keeping the doors open or closed, helped maintain a critical service or provided a life-saving safe place for a family in need.
